Kenny Chesney adds T-shirts to Spread the Love Fund

On April 30, 2013 Kenny Chesney announced that proceeds from his downloaded single "Spread the Love" will go to the newly created charity Spread the Love fund which benefits post-acute care for the victims of the Boston Marathon bombings.  That's all good, but Chesney has now added T-shirts to the funds's store, and proceeds from the T-shirts will go to his Spread the Love fund.

I really like these dark charcoal (Dark Heather) colored T-shirts.  The "Spread the Love" slogans pops off the material.  These should do well as Chesney has a loyal fan base and he's combining music, T-shirts and his persona to help the Boston Medical Center to provide prosthestic limbs to the victims.

Do good things!

Chesney announced, Tuesday, April 30, that proceeds from the downloaded single sales of “Spread The Love,” his track co-written and recorded with the Wailers, will go to his newly created the Spread the Love fund, which will benefit post-acute care for victims of traumatic injuries from the Boston Marathon bombings at BMC or other Boston hospitals. In support of the Boston Marathon bombing victims

In what may appears as an avalanche of Boston Marathon bombing and Boston Strong related blog entries, its important to note The One Fund charity will be ending at the end of June 2013.  At which time funds will be distributed and used to help the victims of the bombings.

"Boston Strong" will continue on but as a memorial to strength of the city and those who support it in the form of T-shirts.  Its no longer a fund raising engine, but will most likely live on.

Once these charities are put to use and officially closed, we should be suspect of continued stories of those seeking to donate funds in the name of the bombings.  Just something to watch for…

Canadian music festival season heats up with cool T-shirts for charity

The music festival season is heating up in Canada.  Designer Jeremy Laing has teaming up with Toronto record label Arts and Crafts, along with other visual artists to produce a collection of T-shirts inspired by Canadian groups like Feist, Broken Social Scene and Dan Mangan.  While everyone has their favorite T-shirts, Feist handpicked Sojourner Truth Parsons to create a design representing their music.  The result is a collection of odd looking humanoids.   If you're not familiar, it makes you want to check out Feist.

T-shirts go on sale today (May 7, 2013) for $75 with all proceeds going to the MusicCounts charity which supports musical education across Canada.  (Toronto Life)

I don't see nearly enough people from the music industry getting involved with charities through T-shirt, but when I do, its inspiring.  I really like the choice of the charity.  Very appropriate considering the music talents which they T-shirts were inspired.

Do good things.

Air Malta and Isle of MTV join to produce official T-shirts for music festival

Air Malta and MTV are teaming up to produce T-shirts for the Malta Music and Arts Festival Week.  The T-shirts will be sold before and during the festival and proceeds will be donated to the YMCA in supporting the plight of the homeless.  But, that's not all.  You can submit designs to be used for the T-shirts.

If your design is chosen and handful of T-shirts with the design will be signed by the performing artist at the festival and auctioned off and the funds will be donated to the YMCA shelter.  The five runner-up designs will be produced as prints and also auctioned off with funds being donated to the YMCA shelter, as well.

UK artist RITA ORA and dance collective RUDIMENTAL have already been signed for this year's Isle of MTV, which will be held on the Graneries at Floriana.

If you're interested in submitting a design for the T-shirt, follow the link below to a Facebook page by Air Malta.  Looking forward to seeing the designs.  Note that the submission must be line drawing and 1 color, and the theme is 'Music and Arts supporting the plight of the homeless.'  Don't delay.  Submissions must be in by May 8, 2013.

Super Junior donated 2,000 T-shirts to Sao Paulo, Brazil

What?  You've never heard of Super Junior?  Super Junior is a boy band from South Korea, established in 2005, and became an international band in 2009 with their hit "Sorry, Sorry".  In 2013 they finally got a chance to perform for their Brazilian fan base in Brazil as part of their 'Super Show 5' tour.

As part of their attendance and performance at the Sao Paulo Creditcard Hall, Super Junior met at the Sao Paulo Renaissance Hotel where they donated 2,000 T-shirts to the Sao Paulo government and the Red Cross to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Korean immigration into Brazil.  Super Junior wanted to do something special and hopes this small present is used for a good purpose.

Well done, SJ.

Red Hot Chili Peppers pose in iGiveiLive T-shirts

Members of the group Red Hot Chili Peppers and Olympic diver (Tom Daley) are showing their support and raising awareness of an organ donor campaign which started at the Torbay hospital in the UK, by wearing T-shirts with the iGiveiLive campaign slogan.

Having these musicians pose in the T-shirts on social media has been great for the hospital.  The hospital notes that while they've seen a 50% increase in donors since 2008, there are still 3 people a day who die because they aren't enough organs available. (Herald Express - South Devon)

I like when celebrities can make a positive difference wen using social media.

Dropkick Murphys raise $100,000 for Boston Marathon victims

I light of recent negative press of people selling T-shirts to make a quick buck on the Boston bombing tragedy, we have the Dropkick Murphys selling custom made T-shirts with all proceeds going to the Boston Marathon victims.  This is especially positive news as the band hails from Quincy, Massachusetts.  Local band supports local city.

The band was seeking $65,000 in reorders as a target.  They got to the target in just 15 hours after the T-shirts were posted on their official webpage.  T-shirts officially go on sale April 30th. No telling just how much funds they'll raise.

Good job Murphys.

Do good things.

T-shirts raise funds for Tower Records Project

Hot Italian restaurant is displaying reproductions of rare photographs from the Tower Records Highlights collection from April 13 - June 2.  The photographs are for sale with proceeds going to the Tower Records Project, which is xxx.  Additionally, Hot Italian restaurant will be selling T-shirts, donating 100% of net profits to the project as well.

The T-shirt was designed by former Tower Records employee Stephanie Azam.  It shows "Hot Italian" on the front, in the Tower Records font, and on the back is "No Pizza. No Life", which is a play on Tower Record's famous saying of "No Music.  No Life."  (Sacramento Business Journal)

For those who remember Tower Records (I do), they closed business in 2006 and liquidated after their second bankruptcy.  They were unable to compete with free Digital download sites.  While Tower Records was in operation, they were kings of the music retail world.  Just entering the store was a feast of sight and sound.  The Tower Records Project was a fund started last year to preserve that history which was Tower Records.

I like the digital age of music, but I sure do miss the experience of going to Tower Records.

Profits from the sale of limited-edition Hot Italian shirts will benefit the Tower Records Project.
