Steven Soderbergh's new website sells movie-related T-shirts

Do we have any movie trivia fans out there?  And, do you like T-shirts?

If so, I've got a treat for you.  Hollywood directory Steven Soderbergh has created a new website with a section dedicated to T-shirts with obscure movie references.  I'll let you read Steven's explanation in his site.

In the site referenced below, someone has taken the time to decrypt the references and determine from which movie they refer to.  See if you knew the references.

Enjoy.

39 fun craft projects for old T-shirts

Its been a while since I've reported on the craft of reusing T-shirts.  In the link below are 39 projects to Reuse, Restyle and Rewear T-shirts.  Each project has an picture and link to the detailed steps.  Be advised, the page takes a while load.  But, if you're into crafts using old T-shirts, it will be worth it.

Project #1 with the latch hook rug is new to me.  I expect that is super cushy and soft.

Project #32 is a new one for me.  Pajama pants.  Its seems so obvious, now that I see them.  I have some T-shirt that would make great short.  With summer coming, these would be very cool.

Have fun.

Sam Moon offers beautiful women's T-shirts

From a pure love of T-shirts, I present to you a beautiful collection of women's fitted cuts with the short shoulder length sleeves.  In addition to the intricate and beautiful designs, Sam Moon uses a mineral wash on their 100% cotton T-shirts.  Additionally, they use rhinestone accents.  As an added bonus, the design is printed on both front and back.

To say the least about their T-shirts, its a steal for only $21.99.  These are some of the best T-shirts for the money I have seen in a long time.  I wish they offered unisex T-shirts.  Their cross designs would work well with men as well.

Blondes Make Better T-shirts help nonprofits

In addition to the clever slogans and voguish feel of the designs by Blondes Make Better T-shirts, they also conduct business to support charities.  Their current program involves donating 20% of the proceeds from the sale of their Cats & Dogs T-shirts to support animal shelters in New York.  In March 2013 they printed T-shirts from the children affected by the tsunami in Japan by supporting the Hug Japan charity.

Unlike most T-shirt sellers, BMBT uses 100% sustainable, sweatshop-free and ethically responsible fabrics.  One of their fabrics is called Promodal which is comprised of 40% beech tree and 60% eucalyptus tree.  Another fabric they use is made of 50% recycled plastic bottles mixed with organic cotton.

I really like this company.  Combining sustainability with some charity work - outstanding.

Do good things.

Mark Zuckerberg Fashion Statement - Gray T-shirt

I found this collection of pictures of Mark Zuckerberg and a brief writeup concerning Mark's fashion expression of gray T-shirts.  Regardless if its for show or he's really that overwhelmed with other aspects of his life that he doesn't have time to consider a dress code, its an interesting visual look into Mark wearing gray T-shirts throughout the world.

Job T-shirts for kids

Here are some fun T-shirt designs for kids.  When a full costume is too much, a T-shirts can be a good substitute.  In the images below we have airplane pilot, doctor and a police officer.  And who can ignore the sugary sweet cute couple with their lace and tie.

Seeing these designs, I don't recall hardly, if any of these types of T-shirts on kids.  You'd think something other than their favorite super-hero or animated characters would be more fun to wear.  Sure, a a really nice Spider-Man T-shirt will look great, but I'm sure a kid walking around with a airplane, doctor or police office T-shirt would also get attention as well.

Memory Quilts by Molly - a great way to preserve your favorite T-shirts

Molly FIsher, founder of Memory Quilts by Molly, is a wonderful venture into the world of T-shirts and quilts.  I've covered this type of craftiness into T-shirts before, but it never gets old for me.  There's something incredibly special and personal when a quilt made from your T-shirts, each with their own unique history, keeps you warm at night, or comforted on the couch as I watch TV.

In addition to Molly's skill in quilting, she also donates her efforts, as shown by a April 26, 2013 posting on her Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/MemoryQuiltsbyMolly) where she provided the grand price for the Parkinson's Unity Walk.  Very good.

Its nice to see someone be able to combine a for-profit venture and give back to the community.

Do good things, and be crafty, too.

Phappim Drawn T-shirts offer one-of-a-kind treasures

Anusom 'Q' Praneerat-chalert, owner of Phappim Drawn T-shirts is offering one-of-a-kind T-shirts.  Nestled in the Cicada Market in Hua Hin, Thailand on the days Friday - Sunday between 5PM - 12AM, you can find Q.

"I can draw anything from animals to celebrities and I only take about 10-15 minutes, which is our advantage since customers don't have to wait too long to get their T-shirts," Q said.

Q has always wanted to be an artist since being a little boy and wanted to apply what he studied in school, which was art.  So, he decided upon T-shirts.  He likes the idea that every T-shirt is unique, giving each customer the opportunity participate in the creative process.  He's very proud of the T-shirts.  With Hua Hin being a world-famous holiday destination, Q gets all kinds of request from all kinds of people. (Bankkok Post)

Based on the images below, Q has an amazing talent.  Drawing in itself is spectacular skill to have, but being able to apply that to T-shirt material is impressive.  If you have not tried writing or even making a straight line with a pen on a T-shirt, you don't have the proper appreciation for what Q is able to do, as seen by the incredible detail on the drawings.  The detail Fantastic work.

New Orleans Jazz Fest 2013 T-shirts

Nothing beats the awesome array of T-shirts than a music festival.  For example, the New Orleans Jazz fest which is occurring April 26 - May 5, 2013.  The images below are just some of the fantastic designs to be found.

I have to admit a little jealous here.  These T-shirt designs are fantastic.  At the International Balloon Fiesta in Albuquerque, NM, T-shirt designs can be, well, oozing of weak sauce.  Which is surprising since the local vendors in the Old Town district offer some stunning and colors designs.

Its a great way to remember a special time of attending an event, such as a music festival.  And one, like the New Orleans Jazz Fest with its rich history, who could pass on putting out a few dollars for a life time keepsake memory like a colorful and well designed T-shirt.

What event did you find your favorite event T-shirt?

African made, African inspired T-shirts

I'm excited to have found this collection of African made, African inspired T-shirts.  See images below.  Too often T-shirts designs use word play, or cute pop-culture references.  But here, with okayafrica we find a collection T-shirt which represent Africa.

I like when companies establish a niche for themselves by offering T-shirts which are specific to a nation or heritage.  At okayafrica, offering these T-shirts is more than a niche.  Its their cause.  They are doing good things by creating awareness and celebrating their heritage and for some of their T-shirts, Independence.

Peter Pan book T-shirts

Check out this very cool T-shirt design from Lithograph.  They take the entire text of a book and print it on a T-shirt.  Then, using a silhouette from a character in the book, some words are lost.  In the image below, we see Peter Pan from "Peter Pan" by J.M. Barrie.

What book and character would you like to see?

Enjoy.

Pinterest - Things to make with T-shirts

Things to make with T-shirts

Here we have another selection of projects one can do with only (or new) T-shirts by Laura Sloan.  I've seen some of the projects listed in the link below, but most are new to me.  A couple bleaching projects look very fascinating.  I like the pink T-shirt with the horse.  This Pinterest page contains many projects beyond the trendy stuff we've seen previously.  Here, we have rugs, baby bibs, head bands and a good selection of skirts and blouses.

If you are crafty and have access to lots of T-shirts, repurpose them and convert them into useable items.

Would projects look the most interesting to you?

Mmmm Baconfest Chicago 2013 T-shirts are yummy

For those who enjoy bacon, did you miss out on the festivities of Baconfest 2013 in Chicago this last Saturday?  Shame.  I know I missed out.  That's ok.  There are still the T-shirts.  The image below represents just a sampling of the bacon-themed T-shirts walking around.

All these themed T-shirts clearly state how people can come together and express their love of something.  In this case, its bacon, but it could be chocolate, or coffee, or beer or a sports team.  The power of the T-shirt, allowing people to relate to their friends and family they proudly attended an event, and if possible, will mostly like go again, next year.

Enjoy.

Tulip Time looking for snarky T-shirt design for 2013

Last year (2012) in Holland the hot weather reduced the festival's main attraction of tulips to stems.  In response to that, Tulip Time created T-shirts and buttons which read "Stem Fest 2012".  They asked visitors to come back to Holland twice, once for the tulips and again for Tulip Time.

The response was successful and now Tulip Time wanted to build upon that success, so they created a T-shirt design contest for 2013.  Tulip Time Marketing and Group Sales manager Susan Zalnis said "People are looking for something a little snarky."  (Holland Sentinel)

Chosen from a review jury of 78 entries, the following people were chosen.  Congratulation everyone.
1st - Hope College student Joey Carty.
2nd - Tattoo artist Tony Putt.
3rd - Code Blue employee David Fleming.

T-shirts are a great way for people to express their love of art, and to help continue the success and popularity of a festival or gathering.

Yesim Tekstil wins award for amazing 3D T-shirt design

Yesim Tekstil, leading knitted garment manufacturer in Turkey, submitted two T-shirt designs in this year's USA based SGIA Speciality Printing and Imaging Fair, receiving Gold and Honor Image awards.  One of the categories Yesim submitted to was Single Multicolor, where they won.  The T-shirt design below gives you an excellent idea of just how amazing their 3D printing techniques truly are.

The company, Yesim Tekstil, employs about 3,000 people, which is based in Bursa, Turkey.  And, they are one of four of the largest companies to integrate yarn-to-finished-product under one roof.  The owners stay up on technology changes and are always seeking to introduce those into their production to keep up with current client demands and needs. (Knitting Industry)

Wonderful design.  Makes you wonder what other amazing printing techniques they know that most manufacturers haven't even considered yet.

Quilt made from Paso Robles Wine Festival T-shirts

Wouldn't you like to have a quilt made of T-shirts from the Paso Robles Wine Festival?  Well, you can.  But, there's only one.  Sound buy your raffle tickets at Harmony Cellars (http://www.harmonycellars.com/) and you could win this wonderful quilt.  Raffle monies will be donated to Loaves and Fishes food bank. According to their sources, one in six people in the San Luis Obispo county (California) are are in a insure food situation, meaning they don't always know where their next meal is coming from.  Sadly, that reflects a 25% increase in people needing food from last year. (The Cambrian)

Personally, I have three such quilts at home.  All made by my mom using T-shirts we had laying around, and many which were purchased specially for quilts.  These quilts are the best blankets I've ever had.  Great for winter.  Thick.  Comfortable.  Colorful.  Durable.  I know making T-shirt quilts can be time consuming, but I wish more crafty people would do these.  Just a note, my mom took the leftover T-shirt material, after the front design was cut out, and made 5 inch squares, which she then used to build another quilt.  As much as I like the T-shirt quilts, there's nothing better than a quilt made from T-shirt material.  Its the softest quilt I've every touched.  Thanks, mom.

Celebrities reveal inner thoughts with T-shirts

Sometimes it seems the only way celebrities can communicate about who they really are, or how they really feel is to wear a T-shirt with a slogan.  I don't mean slogans of help and goodwill.  No, we're talking about self-absorbed, universe-centric revelations about what they need or want to say.

Below are a few such images that I think are funny and self-revealing.  There's Britney Spears in the pink "I am the American Dream."  That must be before she shaved her head. How about Katie Price's "Team Katie" rhinestoned eye-catching design.  How about runway model Cara Delevingne's "Last Clean T-shirt".  And my favorite, David Hasselhoff's "Don't Hassle the Hoff."

What are your favorite celebrity T-shirts you've seen?

Upcycle T-shirts by Karla Kyle

Today we dive into Pinterest again and find some unique ways people are reusing old T-shirts.  There's no reason to throw old, stained or tired T-shirts.  Not what you can do things like this.

Karla Kyle from Pinterest is showing off some of the best uses of T-shirts I've seen.  Scarves, balls, hats, and bags.  Even wall art.  She has one sexy number that is sure to turn a few heads, all the way around.

Outstanding, Karla!!!
